About Accessible Dispatch

Accessible Dispatch is operated by Metro Taxi, a leader in providing wheelchair-accessible taxi service to communities.

At Metro Taxi, we have a proud history of providing accessible transportation. As Connecticut’s largest full-service taxi company, we are proud of the efforts we’ve made  to bring greater accessibility to our customers, introducing the first wheelchair-accessible taxicabs in the state. Today, our Connecticut fleet of 161 vehicles includes 70 of the world’s first purpose-built, U.S.-manufactured taxicabs to meet the American with Disabilities Act’s specifications—the MV-1.

We pride ourselves on providing the best in customer service and in investing in new technologies, including our computer dispatching Global Positioning System that provides our customers with on-demand, efficient and dependable service.

We adhere to a strong model of social entrepreneurship that cultivates business and economic development while serving the best interests of our community and protecting the environment. We are committed to constantly improving our services by forging community partnerships with business chambers, disability organizations, academic institutions, health care providers, travel coordinators and non-profit organizations that support those with mobility disabilities.  We rely on our customers’ input and feedback and we work closely with our team of mobility advocates to provide the best possible service.

Founded in 1987, Metro Taxi is a family-owned, modern transportation company that operates 24/7. We have been honored to have been recognized with numerous awards over the years. We were named the “2010 Taxicab Operator of the Year” by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association, the oldest and largest such trade association for our industry worldwide. Business New Haven named Metro Taxi a “2010 Green Business Leader” and we have been named “Best in New Haven” for eight consecutive years by the New Haven Advocate.

We encourage you to use Accessible Dispatch, the service that both champions and advances universal and equal transportation for all. Come and enjoy all that New York has to offer in art, culture, business, education, restaurants, shopping, sports, nightlife, conferences and more. No matter your destination, when you use Accessible Dispatch, The City Awaits You!

  • More than 54 million people in America live with disabilities and they have the same needs and interests as everybody else. The New Freedom Fund Taxi Voucher Program, a Connecticut first, opens new vistas of opportunities for those with disabilities allowing the disabled community to obtain the value, freedom and equality as other taxicab users and at a significantly discounted price. Locally, Metro Access is greatly enhancing quality of life.
