Tonight, London will again play host to the world’s best athletes with the lighting of the Olympic flame, parade of nations and a special welcome by the Queen of England. This time, however, Paralympic champions will be the one taking center stage.
2012 marks the 16th annual Paralympic Games and has been billed as the greatest Games to date. More than 4,000 athletes will compete in the Games with a 227 member delegation coming from the United States. In addition, early projections report that four billion people will either attend or watch the games. In preparation, planners have secured unprecedented media coverage with daily summary reports on the Paralympic Games YouTube channel, live streaming through website pages while media partners in Great Britain, Canada and Australia are set to feature extensive live coverage.
